The core
Family Hub #1
Topic: family hub — how a household actually holds together and what software do they need to stay coordinated? Question: what matters to different families, how do those concerns connect, what do they imply about building a "family hub" as a piece of customized software, and what useful next steps are useful to explore? Explore coordination as a phenomenon: people, plans, care, money, logistics, open loops.

Working brief
What it has learned
The starting point for a family hub is not the software but the load it would carry: a household's coordination is the set of open loops — who is waiting on whom, for what, by when. Shopping lists, calendars, and chore charts are surface. Anything built for families should be judged against that load, and the first job is understanding what the load actually consists of.
Decomposed, it isn't one queue but three kinds of open loop. Rhythms are recurring obligations with no deadline, only a cadence — school pickup, medication, trash night — and missing one doesn't close it, it just recurs. One-off loops have an owner, a date, and a consequence if dropped: the permission slip, the birthday gift, the DMV renewal. Queued wants ("we should plan a trip someday") have no owner and no date but are real and invisible. A calendar encodes one-offs badly and rhythms not at all, and queued wants never touch it. Whatever a hub is, it has to carry cadence and consequence, not just dates.
The deeper finding is about what "sharing the load" actually means. Every loop has four jobs: notice it's open, decide what and when, execute, and verify it closed. Households routinely hand off only execution — "can you grab the meds?" — while the asker silently keeps noticing, deciding, and verifying. That's why delegation doesn't feel like relief to the person carrying it: visibility isn't transfer; noticing is. A loop is only shared if it can move out of a head and into the system whole.
That sets the data model. Each loop needs one named owner at any moment — "family" as owner means nobody owns it, and the default adult reabsorbs the loop by gravity. The minimal fields: what (one line), owner (a person), trigger (date or cadence), state (open/claimed/done, recording who set it), and verify — what "closed" actually looks like. Verify is
